Bridal Jewelry - Tips On Selecting The Perfect Jewelry

You've bought the dress, now it's time to select the perfect jewelry to compliment it. With all of the bridal jewelry choices out there, selecting the right bridal jewelry is essential for completing your look.
Something to consider is the embellishments on your dress. Does your dress feature tiny pearls or rhinestones? Maybe you have a Swarovski encrusted brooch attached. These materials used in the creation of your dress can be accented with your jewelry. Look for bridal jewelry that feature these same materials including pearls, crystals or rhinestones. This can help to compliment and draw out the beauty of your dress. Just keep in mind that the jewelry is to accessorize and not to take away from the main focus of your dress.
Consider the style of your dress. If you are wearing a V neckline dress, y-style necklaces are a great choice. Many brides wearing a strapless dress opt for a choker or bold cubic zirconia necklace.

What is the Significance of a Silver Christ Pendant?

Since the beginning of time man has chosen his own path to follow when it comes to religion, and he has chosen his way of displaying his religious preferences. In some countries men shave their heads and women cover their faces before they go out into public. Catholic nuns cover themselves from head to toe in order to show their resistance to temptation. In Islam the men are willing to die for the cause of spreading their religion around the world and removing those who would challenge Allah. In Tibet there are men who have devoted their lives to the study and meditation of their religion, cloistering themselves off from the outside world.

For many individuals these methods of expressing their faith are a bit extreme. After all, every day around the world men and women of faith are going through their daily lives just like everyone else. The go to work and school, dress and talk like everyone else, marry, raise a family and eventually die of natural causes, passing on their legacy to their children. This does not mean that these individuals do not believe in the greatness of their god, nor does it mean that they do not walk in the path that he has established. They just do not choose to express their faith in such a dramatic manner.

One way that almost every woman and many men of Christian faith choose to show their beliefs is through their jewelry. Years ago the WWJD bracelet craze swept the nation. Men, women and children with no idea of the intricacies of the Christian religion proudly sported bracelets shouting "What Would Jesus Do?" Prior to that, however, jewelry played a very important part in the expression of belief in Christ. There are many who have faithfully worn their cross or their Christ on the cross pendants every day for years. Many others have laughed at them, asking them why they wear such a thing and why they would want to go around with a dead man hanging around their neck.

The answer is simple. This is their way of expressing their faith. For those unfamiliar with the history of the Christian faith it is said that a babe was born in Bethlehem who was immaculately conceived by the Lord upon the Virgin Mary. This baby was destined to die for the sins of all man on a cross at Calvary so that all man had to do was go before God and ask for forgiveness of their sins in order to be forgiven of their trespasses against God's law. After their death, the souls of these individuals would go to heaven, a paradise where they will reside for eternity. The wearing of a cross or a Christ on the cross pendant serves to remind those who believe in the Christian faith of the sacrifice that was made for them should they ever decide to stray from the course set for them.

What does a crucifix pendant with stars at 3 of the ends and a bird pointing down?

The necklace is silver and just a two dimensional imprint on it. My mother got this from Peru last year. Above Christ's head there's a bird diving it seems and a banner INRI.

I'm wondering what the whole thing means. I found out what INRI thing means but the stars and the bird I have no clue on

The answer sometimes depends on the particular denomination or culture. Christ has many names including Morning Star, He is one portion of the trinity (God the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit) so there are a number of things the stars can represent.
The "upside down" bird is a dove and represents the Holy Spirit. When Jesus was baptized by John, the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove descended on Christ's head and God's voice declared "This is my son in whom I am well pleased." So you will see the dove in many churches, religious paintings, bulletins, books, robes and communion tables.

Source(s):

This is noted in many places in the New Testament portion of the Holy Bible, especially in the four Gospels of Mathew, Mark, Luke and John.

  • You should do some research on the cross itself. You may be suprised that the cross is NOT really a Christian symbol but a pagan one. Its a phallic symbol. Jesus did not die on a cross, but rather an upright pole.

What kind of jewelry would you give to a new young bride?

is it modern? old fashion? gold? platinum? silver? or wat?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Hopefully this question is coming from the new young bride's husband - otherwise don't buy her jewelry.

A husband should know enough about his bride to not have to ask this question. If the husband does not, it's time to start talking and find out what she does like - about everything in life including jewelry.

  • depends on a few things...

    what is the brides preference?

if the bride only wears silver or gold that's what you should go with

what does the dress look like?

if the dress has a lot of beading or pearls then pearls would more than likely look the best. If the dress is very casual a simple silver or gold necklace would work best.

what kind of wedding is it?

is it casual or more formal? if the wedding is casual you might want to stick with "casual" bridal jewelry. If it is very formal pearls work great.

What kind of undertones does the bride have?

There are two types of undertones warm and cool...

hold a piece of bright pink paper under the brides chin and look under her eyes and around her nose...do the same with a bright orange piece of paper. Unless this bride is one of the lucky few one of the two will look the best. You will probably notice that with one of the colors you will see dark circles under her eyes and around her chin (even the most gorgeous people have this), and the other color will accentuate this area! If she looks better with the pink she is best in cool tones (silver) , if she looked best in orange she is best in warm tones (gold). If you want to be safe pearls always look good!

Hope that this helps a little bit.

    God Bless!

Jewelry Tips That No One Should Pass Up On

You want to know the best tips and tricks for making your jewelry look its best. You have done everything you can, but you still end up with tarnished, scratched, or discolored jewelry. Follow the tips and advice provided in this article to keep your jewelry looking beautiful.
When you are selecting a piece of jewelry to compliment your outfit, you need to consider what you want your jewelry to do. Is your outfit or the jewelry making the statement, meaning is your jewelry going to be front and center or is it going to be more subtle and in the background complimenting the outfit.
If you lose the butterfly backing for your post earrings, you can easily replace them. Any local craft stores carry replacement backings for post earrings in the jewelry making aisles. You can find them in different metals such as sterling silver, gold plating, silver plating or silver tone metal. You no longer have to throw your old earrings out, you can replace the backing quite affordably.

When learning a new jewelry-making technique, use cheaper materials. For instance, if you are learning wire techniques, pick up some aluminum or copper wire from a local craft store, instead of using your sterling silver wire. This will help you get the valuable practice you need to master the technique, while sparing your pocketbook. If you mess up on your top-quality materials, they may become unusable.

Practice with cheaper copper or steel wire if you're new to jewelry making. Sterling silver wire is very expensive and messing it up will cost you money, save this for when you become more experienced.

Jewelry making?

what are the basic tools you need to start making jewelry espiecelly beaded jewelry. Are there any websites that list the tools? Not websites that sell just looking for ones that list the stuff you need.

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

Tools required depend on the variety of beadwork. For general bead-stringing, I'd suggest getting a pair of "Rosary Pliers". This item combines round-nose, square-nose & diagonal cutters in a single tool. Otherwise, get all three. If you're going to secure items with "crimp beads", you'll need crimping pliers. I don't use crimp beads so I don't generally recommend them. It's just a personal preference.

For counted beadwork, like loomed work, needles, threaders & magnification are the basic tools.

For opening and closing split rings, it's handy to have two pairs of pliers or hemostats. Such saves fingernails.

  • you'll need round nose & flat nose pliers. Also some cutters, there are more than one type. Depending on your project, you may need nylon coated stainless steel wire, thread (such as Nymo), leather or cotton cord, or stretchy cord. Theres other cords out there too.

If you are using thread, you'll need needles. Needle size is based on the size of the hole you are going through. I use a size 12 which is small, but will easily go through small seed beads sized 11/0.

If you use the nylon coated stainless steel wire (Beadalon is a common brand name), you do not need a needle, but the wire does have different sizes. A size 7 is a good starting size and is the least expensive. You'll also need crimp beads. A size 2x2 is a common size and should work on the size 7 wire. You will need clasps, such as spring ring, lobster, or toggles.

You would then just choose the type of beads you want to use. If the cord you use is wide, you might try pony beads or wooden beads.

If you need instructions on how to put this all together, check with a local bead shop. Most offer classes to get you started.

    Good luck & have fun!

  • I just took an earring making class last week at my local Bead store ( The Bead Fetish in Sacramento, CA) For $10 we had 2 1/2 hours of instructions. They had the tools to work with and then you buy the materials to make your earrings.

Anyway...I'm hooked. I ended up buying the rosary pliers (the round nose pliers might be the other name) and flat nose pliers. I didn't buy the cutters since the flat nose pliers had one built in...but I think I could get a closer cut if I but the stand alone cutters. (that's next on my list to buy)

I made some fabulous chandelier earrings and will be heading down to get more beads tonight when I get out of the office.

Girl, my advice is find a bead store in your area and ask if they have classes...that's the way to go.

    Have fun
