What is the Moissanite?
Moissanite is named after Nobel Prize winner Henri Moissan. In 1893, he began studying fragments of a meteorite that crashed in the desert of Arizona about 50,000 years ago. In these fragments he discovered minute quantities of a new mineral that had a vibrant high. He studied the mineral and identified it as a compound of Silicon Carbide. Due to the very small amount of his discovery the mineral name moissanite has been studied nor until the end of the 1980s, when a company called cri developed a proprietary process for the manufacture of large single crystals of Moissanite.
These crystals correct name is synthetic moissanite and were observed in the mid-1990s that this would be of a very high quality synthetic gem if cut properly, highlighting its brilliance and sparkle. The hardness of the stone makes a very durable gemstone for jewellery. Charles & Colvard is the company behind the synthetic moissanite is sold today. Their genius lies in marketing including sheet does not using "Synthetic" to describe a moissanite and closely monitor the provision of their products and not to flood the market.
You can read my post on the diamond Moissanite review to see how the two compare.
Economic collapse of today makes a very good substitute to a diamond.
