Career in the Fashion Industry

The fashion industry is raging in India as any country in the world. More and more students are taking up this highly creative and outrageous career. Outrageous because there is a lot of differentiating once has to weave in with his or her product. There is no space for a me-too and plagiarism is thrashed.

So those who are highly creative, know how to arm twist fabrics to get the best cut and work for hours on end, get into the industry. While some make it to the top, others get drowned in this highly competitive market. As one has to work under a name before setting up their own label most of the times candidates never really get to set out on their own.

But for those with a will there are platforms like the IFW - the Lakhme sponsored Indian Fashion Week. Where along with the big wigs of the industry novices too get to line up their stuff on the ramp. NIFT - National Institute of Fashion Technology in India is one of the leading Fashion Institutes where one gets to dabble with fabrics, styles and textures. You can walk in as a novice and walks out as a professional. Most of the times campus recruitment soaks in most of the graduating students. Students get a chance to work for Indian labels or International ones. Once you are selected your growth is in your hands.

Students can specialize or work for apparel for men, women or children. All these markets are huge and have an incessant appetite for more. Besides the accessory segment too is booming, allowing students to choose from belts, neckpieces, earrings, footwear, lingerie, handbags and swimwear. A student can join in wherever he or she feels a calling. And switching over is not all that easy but if you are not happy then there can be nothing worse then working in disappointment.

Designs are either done for individual taste or mass market. Students are given the task accordingly to either work for the market where replicas of each design are done or single pieces marked for the elite.

Technology has reached everywhere and even the fashion industry has fashion design software. Where one can work upon the idea and see it on the screen before getting started. Amendments, changes...everything can be done in the dress on the virtual screen. Hence students have to be computer savvy and should have problem solving skills, good communication as well as managerial skills to scale the echelons of the fashion industry.

Fashion industry is not restricted to fashion designing of apparels but also to hairstyles, bags, shoes and other accessories. Teen dresses and celebrity haircuts are the best target for the industry growth as these make the maximum contribution in the industry. Man Made Diamond: How Is A Diamond Made?

Better known as synthetic diamonds, the man made diamonds are created in the lab using several chemical as well as physical processes. The man made ones resemble the natural ones and cannot be easily distinguished due to the similarity that the both has. But they differ in the three dimensional crystal compositions when compared to the natural ones that are found in its natural three dimensional crystalline structures. You may also know the man made diamonds by several other names such as the artificial, manufactured, cultured, industrial diamonds etc.
Manufactured either from cubic zirconium or silicon carbide, the synthetic diamonds were first created in the 1950s in Sweden by the engineer Anders Kampe and Quintus. Even though it was new to the world at that time, the popularity of man made ones slowly came to be known to many people in the coming years. The nineteenth century witnessed the creation of artificial diamonds in huge number and many companies like the De Beers Industrial Diamonds and GE Super abrasives became leading specialists in manufacturing in their labs. Thus, the history of the creation of artificial models dates back to centuries when the use of synthetic models became popular. Gradually the popularity of artificial ones spread across the world and many countries pioneered in its creation. Now, there are an ample number of companies available dedicated with the creation of synthetic diamonds such as the United States Synthetic Diamond industry, Sumitomo Electric Hard Metal etc. Now, it is possible to create artificial ones of around 3 billion carats every year. What A Hoot!

Basically, synthetic diamonds are manufactured in the labs using two effective methods. One of them is the high pressure and the high temperature method also called the HPHT method wherein heavy pressure of 5 GPA and high temperature of around 1500 degree Celsius is used. A belt press and a cubic press is used in the manufacturing of such diamonds. Chemical Vapor Deposition or CVD is another effective method that is used in creating man made diamonds. Introduced in 1980, this method utilizes various gases along with the apt condition for creating man made diamonds.

Diamond is an allotrope of carbon, which means it only consists of carbon atoms and differs from other carbon allotropes by its structure.

It has a very ordered structure, all the carbon atoms are tetrahedrally bonded. Such a structure makes diamond very stable, that's why its so strong and resistant. Diamond also doesn't conduct electricity, as there are no free electrons in the outer electron shell of the carbon atoms(all are used in bonds).

You can create a diamond out of most carbon substances under very high pressure and at very high temperatures. We could make a diamond out of you as well.
