If cosmetic is for the body, shoes are for the feet, jewelries are for the clothes. Jewelries can make you look trendy, classic or even cheap. Proper use can also make any clothing look expensive.
Categories of jewelry
1. Fine - is made from gold, platinum, fine silver, combined with precious and semi-precious stones.
2. Costume - is made from lower cost materials such as metals with gold and or silver finishes, and from unusual materials such as wood, plastic and beads. Costume jewelries are usually combinations of glass, synthetic or some semi-precious stones.
Do's: * Wear contrasting shape all the time if you have a round body built.
* Wear ivory and tortoiseshell, but only if they're fake.
* Assemble a collection of good, basic costume jewelry:
- a pair of matching gold bangle bracelets, or a gold cuff not wider than an inch and a half.

i am a do it yourselfer. lol. i spend most of my weekends, drawing, painting, writing, singing, designing stuff. besides school and working, and saving money, i like to craft. i am 21 btw. so i was wondering any good crafting tips or ideas. i go to michaels and jo ann fabrics a lot. even walmart too. but i want to know some really good crafting tips or ideas you may have. crafting is such a great stress reliever for me. thanks.

  My tip is don't buy into the racket. Don't get a machine, or buy ready-made, to do what you could do yourself. For example, it is a lot of fun and very rewarding to make shapes out of fabric and paper for embelleshing scrapbook pages, even though the "industry" would like you to believe you should buy theirs and then just assemble it. Never assemble when you can create.
  
  But I do believe in using patterns until you acquire enough skills to design your own stuff. Browse the craft section of the pattern books at Jo-Anns, and make some cool things for your home.

  Learning to dressmake is a fabulous thing. To understand the way a garment is constructed frees you up from having to follow patterns. I'm in the SCA and live in awe of those people who can look at a medieval painting, then go home and make the outfit. Mosaic is a fun thing too. I've only done one chest of drawers, but I had fun and now have the skills to re-tile the bathroom or kitchen if it ever needs doing. :)
  I think your first step ought to be the craft/ DIY shelf of your local library. There'll be craft books on all sorts of things, even things you've never heard of. Your second step could be to join a craft group. I recommend the SCA (http://www.sca.org) if you are into medieval crafts and things, there are a lot of people doing a lot of different things who'll be happy to swap notes with you. Otherwise, your town probably has a spinners and weavers guild, a knitting group, a quilters group, and who knows what else. Do a google search using the words "guild" or "association" and that should bring them up.

what are the basic tools you need to start making jewelry espiecelly beaded jewelry. Are there any websites that list the tools? Not websites that sell just looking for ones that list the stuff you need.

Tools required depend on the variety of beadwork. For general bead-stringing, I'd suggest getting a pair of "Rosary Pliers". This item combines round-nose, square-nose & diagonal cutters in a single tool. Otherwise, get all three. If you're going to secure items with "crimp beads", you'll need crimping pliers. I don't use crimp beads so I don't generally recommend them. It's just a personal preference.

For counted beadwork, like loomed work, needles, threaders & magnification are the basic tools.

For opening and closing split rings, it's handy to have two pairs of pliers or hemostats. Such saves fingernails.

  good tools are a must when beading. you will need a pair of crimpers, round nose and flat nose pliers, and cutters. i recommend you go to your local bead store and see what they use. they should let use use theirs before you buy.

  you'll need round nose & flat nose pliers. Also some cutters, there are more than one type. Depending on your project, you may need nylon coated stainless steel wire, thread (such as Nymo), leather or cotton cord, or stretchy cord. Theres other cords out there too.
  
  
  If you are using thread, you'll need needles. Needle size is based on the size of the hole you are going through. I use a size 12 which is small, but will easily go through small seed beads sized 11/0.
  
  If you use the nylon coated stainless steel wire (Beadalon is a common brand name), you do not need a needle, but the wire does have different sizes. A size 7 is a good starting size and is the least expensive. You'll also need crimp beads. A size 2x2 is a common size and should work on the size 7 wire. You will need clasps, such as spring ring, lobster, or toggles.
  
  You would then just choose the type of beads you want to use. If the cord you use is wide, you might try pony beads or wooden beads.
  
  If you need instructions on how to put this all together, check with a local bead shop. Most offer classes to get you started.

  I just took an earring making class last week at my local Bead store ( The Bead Fetish in Sacramento, CA) For $10 we had 2 1/2 hours of instructions. They had the tools to work with and then you buy the materials to make your earrings.
  
  Anyway...I'm hooked. I ended up buying the rosary pliers (the round nose pliers might be the other name) and flat nose pliers. I didn't buy the cutters since the flat nose pliers had one built in...but I think I could get a closer cut if I but the stand alone cutters. (that's next on my list to buy)
  
  
  I made some fabulous chandelier earrings and will be heading down to get more beads tonight when I get out of the office.
  
  Girl, my advice is find a bead store in your area and ask if they have classes...that's the way to go.

for jewelry...i would say most people dont want brands on them ...but you can put paper tags on the jewelry themselves with your name or whatever on it and people can take them off once they buy them ^_^

there are two ways i use to have costume jewelry last as long as possible, you can try the nail polish or put the earrings in plastic bags after each use.
