Jewelry Tips - Fine Jewelry Shopping Tips

It is always fun to shop for the decorative accessories no matter whether you are looking for fine or fashion jewelry. The most common reason of buying jewelry is because of a special occasion for the special someone. With fashion or fine jewelry you can always find something that can fit that special someone's personality.
There are many different kinds of jewelry these days. Bracelets, rings, earrings, necklaces and watches are some examples of them. Rhinestone handbags, bridal tiaras, pageant jewelry, and pageant crowns are more delicate and suitable for all occasions. Do not just think that they are all very expensive. Many of these are found at reasonable prices and you can easily get them around the corner of your house.
You can also get elegant jewelry at affordable price too. You just need to spend more time looking around for the best shop which offers the best price for the jewelry that can bring out the elegance in you.
Here are some practical tips that you can use right away when looking for that fine jewelry whether you are shopping in a local boutique or an online store:
1. Look for reputable company.
2. Spend some time shopping around and compare the prices.
3. Check for color and information about the particular piece of fine jewelry that you are intending to buy.
4. Decide how many flaws you can bear
5. Be weary of extremely expensive fashion or fine jewelry pricing
Most importantly, do your homework and check out the best store which offers the best price. Do not feel shy when buying jewelry for that special someone; it should be an enjoyable process. You can accomplish this even without breaking the budget that you have set for yourself too!

Fine jewelry?

is it fake? whats the difference between real jewelry and Fine Jewelry? is it valuable?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

I would call 18K gold or higher with only real gemstones fine jewelry. Anything that is 14K gold or silver with semi-precious stones I would call real jewelry. Fake costume jewelry rates at the bottom, By 18K or 14K I mean solid, not plated stuff. The good stuff is of course valuable.

"Real" is usually a term used to put something over on people who are ignorant of the ins and outs of jewelry. Anything tangible on this plane of reality is "real". Even real plastic jewelry is real. When you see a sign that says "real gold" it is important to find out what that means to the seller. If it has ANY gold in it, even gold plating, they can usually get away with calling it "real gold". If a piece is actually made of gold, silver, or platinum, it is most likely marked with a small quality stamp somewhere on the piece (inside a ring, near the clasp of a necklace, on the back or edge of a pendant).
The most common stamps are
FS -for fine silver (100% silver)
SS or 925 - for sterling silver (92.5% silver)
10K, 14K, 18K, 22K, 24K for Karat gold (for reference: 14K is 58% pure gold, 24K is 100%)
KY for karated yellow gold
KW for karated white gold
GF for gold filled (a layer of gold on a base metal)
GP for gold plate (a thin layer of gold on a base metal that will wear off with time)
Plat for platinum
There will most likely be a maker's mark next to the quality stamp. A maker's mark is a tiny version of the maker's signature.

Seller's will also use the word "real" to avoid telling people whether a stone is natural or manmade. A manmade ruby is still a "real" ruby. It has the same chemical composition as a natural ruby. It just took about a week to make instead of a few million years, making it much less rare and less valuable than the natural version.

Fine Jewelry is just a term that refers to higher end (ie. higher priced) jewelry. It can be a bit of a subjective term, but generally refers to high quality silver, gold, and platinum jewelry. If you are buying something called fine jewelry from a reputable store, it should be valuable for years to come:)
The term Fine Jewelry is essentially the opposite of Costume Jewelry, which you could pick up for $15 at Target (for example) to go with your outfit for dinner tonight. I, personally would put GF and GP items in the costume jewelry category, but some people may not. I would put better quality silver jewelry in the Fine category, other people will disagree. This is why I say it's a little subjective.

Jewelry Tips - Making Jewelry Shopping Easier For Men

It's not easy to go out for shopping with women, especially because they will look at a hundred things and then will get confused. Have you ever faced a situation where your wife spends the entire day out to find a piece of jewelry and then say that she is not sure about what she wants to buy?
You get embarrassed in the showroom because of the number of times she will ask the salesmen to show something different and will then request him to show the same set she saw the last time, she shortlists them but then finally feels that they are not worth the cost. It does not make a difference to her but you...
The best way to get rid of this problem is to tell her to shop online, this way you will not have to face the embarrassment, she will be busy on the computer and you get to enjoy the day, the way you want. Not only will this be effortless, but it also becomes easy on your pocket, as the online stores can help you get a great deal. Apart from everything else, you will be able to save money and she will be happy to get so many designs to choose from.
The online stores have plenty of designs and textures, which are impossible for a shopkeeper to keep at one time. She can look at them, imagine them with the outfit she wants to wear and then place an order for her jewelry to be delivered at home.
A lot of people have started to follow this trend. Some of them I know, try looking for the latest designs that get uploaded and keep themselves loaded with them. Fashion is something that a woman can never get tired of.
And unlike men, they will keep on looking till the point they get convinced with the fact that the choice that they have made is the right one. And there will never be one perfect choice. She will look for something today and will require something else tomorrow.
So if there is a possibility that you can buy something at a discount or a price that is lower than the others, then why not grab it. Online stores always have some kind of an offer on the other. And have the latest designs on display and since the variety is so much that you will never find anyone else wearing the same thing as you are. Take a look and find what suits you the best and your friends will be jealous of.

Should women buy their own jewelry or should their spouse?

I own my own gallery filled with jewelry. Women constantly come in and complain that their husbands only buy them what they want, not what she wants. But then men complain that women are never satisfied. What's the deal? Who should be buying what?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Personally, I think it is best if a woman buys her on jewelry since it is really a personal style statement. However, a husband or significant other should be paying attention when they hear their partner say they like something, and then go back and get it. Guy's can buy diamond earrings, or a tennis bracelet, pearls, but anything past that is asking for trouble.

Recognizing and understanding keloids

January 19, 2005By: Bob WhiteheadEach body heals from traumas and abrasions differently. Just like some people bruise very easily, some people scar easily. And for part of the population, scarring isn’t just a darker mark. Their scar tissue becomes fibrous and overgrows, forming a raised, more pronounced scar where the cut or wound occurred. These scars are called keloids. Keloid formation is most common among African Americans and young

Basic Jewelry Tips

>By
Don't you just hate it when your expensive jewelry set will not sparkle forever? It's not a do it yourself clean up act like the human body because it doesn't have the means to manufacture its own cleansing methods and chemicals. Even humans have to bathe to remain glowing and fresh as ever. Face it. That nice shiny emerald brooch, that elegant gold bracelet and that silver earring that cost you a fortune will still lose its dazzling sparkle if you don't have the time or knowledge to care for it. Don't you want to be the envy of the crowd when years pass and your set of magnificent jewelry are still going to make heads turn in your direction?
To understand the basics of cleaning jewelry, one needs to know how those stubborn stains develop or why the metal tarnishes. What about scratches? Real gold or silver nor platinum always exhibit scratches. The skin produces chemicals when metal gets in contact with it and these then exhibit signs of dark unsightly spots on that fine ring or watch of yours. When bleaching your skin take off your jewelry as the chemical might just cause some unsightly blemish or even corrode the metal of your jewelry.
After a wonderful but tiring day, before retiring don't forget to take off your jewelry one at a time and clean them off with a wet flannel cloth. This will remove the grime and salt deposits that your skin sweats usually leave on the metal or stone. If some stains have already developed try to use an effective solution to clean out the dark spots. You can try rubbing it off with a solution of 1 tbsp Hyposulphite to 1 glass of water. Hyposulphite is a chemical that you can buy off the shelf in drugstores.
Metal can corrode or develop unsightly stains if it comes in contact with spa or hair solutions or the one's that are used in bleaching parlors. Usually some people just cry out when their expensive watch suddenly dulls because it came in contact with bleach. One active chemical ingredient found in clinics and hospitals is Iodine which leaves dark spots on metal jewelry.
The military recently found that platinum is the best and sturdiest metal so far. It even surpasses gold and silver. Silver is the most malleable however it comes third in terms of being affected by the ravages of time and natures concoctions. The second is gold and the most enduring piece of metal would be platinum. If you have a platinum piece with your diamond set you can fully understand that the price is worth it as that piece of expensive jewelry will outlive the rest.
Gold pieces can be washed with liquid detergents without the bleaching agents of course. Silver tarnishes quickly and needs to be upkeep by using the same. Store your jewelry in tight containers with fine velvet cloth after cleaning them. Take care to avoid moist areas. Also, avoid bathing or pool swimming while wearing your jewelries, it might slip off unnoticed or the chlorine content in the water might do its damaging job to your precious items.

silver matches EVERYTHING!!! and try to keep it either pretty simple if you are wearing a complex outfit or make it the staple of your outfit if you have on a more plain look another good thing to do is if you are wearing pretty plain colored clothes then try to make your jewelry be the color pop of your outfit! layering long and short necklaces is good but do like a simple long one and a interesting short one or the other way around. if you cant find a pair of earrings 2 match your other jewelry or clothes then hoops look good with absolutely everything!!! layering 2-4 bracelets is really cute like more then one bangle or a charm bracelet and a watch. for rings just don't wear a billion at a time 2 is okay or maybe 1 on each hand but one on every finger??? it just looks stupid so stick to one maybe 2 rings and either make them pop or keep it simple. i hope that those tips helped!!! :)

    Silver jewelry goes with anything.

    * Never mix gold and silver
    * do not wear to much jewelry
    * wearing a combination of bracelets and a necklace is bad
    * try to wear earrings & a bracelet (or two) or wear a necklace and ring
    * do not wear jewelry that looks... freakish...

Choosing the piercing location for your pierced labia

January 19, 2005By: Bob WhiteheadWhile genital piercing for pleasure and aesthetic value is a relatively recent phenomenon in American society, the pierced labia has been around for centuries. Matched piercings on the right and left labia minora or majora could be linked together with body jewelry in order to ensure a woman’s virginity or fidelity. Nowadays, labia piercings are more for sexual enhancement and for an appealing appearance.
